Everybody Lies Poem by moon batchelder

Everybody Lies

Rating: 3.2

i think that i believe them least
who say they never lie.
or worse the ones who claim they can't
nor under any circumstance
could utter false reply!
those very boasts comprise the first
and foremost i believe
of scores of fibs unrecognized
as such. for want of alibis
to honest be perceived.

and these, convince myself the more
of their dishonesty.
who lack the gumption to admit
that something like a lie exists
in their proximity.
me thinks he doth protest too much
who'd such a thing deny
as fudging, slight embellishments
euphemisms. - common sense says;
everybody lies.
