Evolving Poem by Jeffrey Mitchell

Evolving

There is a lion that dwells with me, but I see through the eyes of a lamb, while my heart beats of a young lion, my actions are evolving as a lamb. That which is held captive wants to be set free, to explore the land, and vocalize his roar as he roams.
The lion is wild and has the instincts to hunt, and devour his prey, so I feel his frustration as he lurks at what I see.
But through the eyes of a lamb I want to live a lifestyle of gentleness and peace, able to folly and play. But my posture is of a young lion waiting to swoop suddenly on his next prey.
So I struggle within myself, that which I see, and that which I do.
