'' Experience Like That Can't Be Bought '' Poem by Bri Mar

'' Experience Like That Can't Be Bought ''

Learning throughout life,
The knowledge I've gained,
To the bin it is now being hasted,
It cuts like a knife,
All the skills I've ingrained,
I feel are now being wasted.

They're saying, he's old,
What does he know,
As a statement it's very uncouth,
It leaves me cold,
Their skills they could grow,
If only they would face the truth.

Life is a skill,
We all must learn,
Experience should be to the fore,
If I have the will,
For this you should yearn,
Those older you should not deplore.

What I regret,
Is, I'm no longer hired,
I know it's because of my age,
What they forget,
Is what they've retired,
Is experience they just cannot gauge.

Never judge a book,
Before it is read,
What's inside can be so uplifting,
Do take a look,
Where you're being led,
Very soon your perception is shifting.

That silly old git,
Isn't so daft,
In fact, he could teach us a lot,
he knows quite a bit,
About many a craft,
