Eyes Without Tears Poem by Joseph Narusiewicz

Eyes Without Tears

Eyes without tears sullen and alone
I listened to the bitter wind
Every rustling breeze
Only compassion feels beauty

Prancing pride accumulates time
Withered notions of life
We only have our eternal hearts
We own nothing except what’s inside

Every mask only leaves us empty
Images of the fallen swirl
Success becomes a hollow soul
Empathy reaches for the tree of life

Your island of pleasure is desolate
Only love grows a garden
Thorns and thistles in a maze
Tenderness rebukes all idols

Eyes without tears are shallow mirrors
