Fact Of The Matter Poem by Francis Duggan

Fact Of The Matter

In a World where many wish to be a billionaire
And where narcissistic people are no longer rare
At parties and social gatherings or wherever they meet
People for attention with each other compete
But the fact of the matter and fact never lie
Is us humans are mortals and we are born to die
The town's wealthiest person when living in the cemetery today
Is not in need of money where she or he lay
Human life is a journey that does have an end
And though money does win one many a false friend
The size of your home and the size of your car
Does not define the person that you really are
And though your material possessions others may impress
Your life is the greatest gift you does possess.
