Failure - Poem by Nassy Fesharaki
My friend, classmate
-loved to be an actor
-at the end, it seems as
-truly, he has failed
Was his fault?
-judging is difficult
-but I'd say: "Not at all! "
Criminal is nature
- I blame our mother
Imagine being a blue-eyed
-Caucasian, a blond, Christian
-in the old-old Black Africa
-before the invasions, for first time
-speaking French or English, or German
He is so, but reverse
-is woolly with harsh voice and accent
-among those born and raised Westerners
- (Blind they, narrow-mind, prejudice!
-…and take shit for gold; if, so are sold!
-like fear in Cold War; McCarthyism…)
"Oh, yes, yes, we want you…"
-they tell him but roles are limited
-terrorist or bandit; murderer or rapist
-as wild as a donkey deserted in desert
-or Arab with Eqal to driver the camels…
He was raised among them
-in school and childhood, one of them
-unaware of his past in love with West's Culture
-but now feels abandoned and has changed
-he says he truly discovered
-love is dead in the West,
-is against love-less-ness
"No acting…" he says and
-wants writing on the roots of the hate
