Fake Smiles Poem by April Humason

Fake Smiles

Rating: 5.0

In the land of painted smiles, hearts quietly ache,
Connections fracture, fragile bonds break.
Loneliness settles like cold night air,
As borrowed joy fades, leaving emptiness there.

Paths once shared begin to divide,
Promises crack, love thins, and hides.
The games we play, the masks we wear,
Turn whispered vows into thin, cold air.

Hearts grow distant, silence spreads,
Words once warm turn heavy, said.
Homes grow hollow, love delayed,
Two souls wandering through love's charade.

And in the wake of smiles untrue,
Gray clouds cover what once shone blue.
Families tremble, dreams awaken,
As fragile hearts are left shaken.
