Falling - Poem by bethlehem maresa

i need to make you
understand what i feel
whenever you're around

when we were younger,
you were my protector - keeping
me safe in our world
of under-the-bed monsters

as we grew, you stayed
with me - when my mother left
you didn't say a word,
just held me and let me cry

you've always been the
only person that could
warm my heart, bring
a true smile to my lips

i've always loved you
like a brother, but realizing
how much you care
and looking into your dark eyes

i find myself staring
at your black hair...
and your strong hands
at your lips

i want to kiss those lips
want to make you feel
what i've been feeling
i want you to know i love you
