Falling Leafs Poem by Xamara Lemus

Falling Leafs

falling leafs
as falling tears
by broken dreams
forged by reality
to be unreal

unwillingly
i saw the truth
the real you
no veils or shells

as a saw you
so feign, so unreal
i felt on my knees
and broke in tears

you think you are cool
don't be so fool
being full of yourself
thinking that external beauty
gives your the right
to crash people's hearts
dear child
you fail to take into account
that caring for what's skin deep
is shallow, momentary, inhumane
it comes back to bite you and destroy you
when your defenses are down

i simply can not comprehend
how you can possibly live with yourself
not caring about the rest

if you could only understand
that kindness is the most powerful weapon there is
if you could see beyond your nose
you wouldn't use others
as ego boosters for your corrupted soul

if you can soon after forget those who helped you
up on your feet again
if people mean nothing to you
then why in the world do you use them
to prove who you are

i fear the most
that you do not realize
that your cruelty will leave you
all alone

fall falling leafs
are pure pain tears
which my eyes dropped
as I turned my back from you
terrified to see
your lack of soul
