Family Bliss Poem by Ajit Das

Family Bliss

‘Why can't we all
stay together? ' -
the kids, torn apart,
asked mom and dad
who were there
so near, yet so afar.

The innocent outburst
left all of them
struggling for words
amidst court proceedings.
A pall of silence
hung for a moment,
softening the cruelty
of custody battle.

Tears welled up quietly
in the parents' eyes,
blurring their legal feud.
They hugged each other,
clinging to the filial bond
of enduring family bliss
