Farewell To Compatibility Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Farewell To Compatibility

Tried to figure out what was the matter
Didn't know our minds didn't think the same
Thought your eyes saw the same rainbow
in the sky… not at all… what a shame

Went to a celebration to share a feast
Sat with strangers while you were the host
Pushed peas and stirred mashed potatoes
Choked down displeasure as you gave a toast

To your future…as my dreams melted away
Felt as though the temperature in the room
was freezing…just knew all others could see
how my joyous mood was crashing into gloom

Was there a problem…you said I was hallucinating
Everything is going to be fine…as long as we agree
From now on…you were making all the decisions
Never mind what I felt…it was about you…not me
