When I was young
I wanted to be old.
Now that I am
the tales I've been told
proved to be just that.
They said I'd be wiser.
They said I'd be smart.
They said I'd have freedom
to follow my heart.
They said I could do
whatever I desire.
But now that I'm old
I've lost the fire
to be like the young
who romp and play
and wish to be older
on every day.
