I think we are all afraid of something, or everything,
We have that small fear in the back or our minds,
that escalates into paranoia if not proven wrong,
I think the most terrifying thing out there is love,
Forget guns, war and poison,
the thought of being alone scares us all,
of taking the first step,
of taking a risk,
and mostly, with experience,
of getting a broken heart,
That is why love is lost,
Fear,
I can't promise that I won't break your heart,
but neither can you.

Fear is a bunch of sinister shadows, and a shadow has no substance. It's usually a magnified reflection of something small, that's why upon confronting fear one often finds it inconsequential. An insightful piece of poetry, well articulated and nicely penned with conviction. Thanks for sharing Jacquelyn.
