Fearful Symmetry

Fearfulness
evolved symmetry
and humanity
and the timid, teeming,
intelligent and stinking mammals
surviving in humanity's nest.

Materiality, so fecund
it evolved out of nothing;
no surprise then,
out of fearfulness
evolved humanity and the rest.
