Feathers And Fur Fight* Poem by Thamsanqa Job Mzamo

Feathers And Fur Fight*

What a good laugh
We had of it! ...
When feathers are used
For boxing gloves
And paws used in defense,
It invokes a good laugh!

Madame Chicken ruled supreme:
Chased Monsieur Mongrel around,
That's Mr Dog! ...
But Madame Chicken's rule
Was short-lived, she chased
Monsieur Mongrel, and when
She was gaining in on him,
Monsieur Dog stopp'd,
Wheel'd around and put
The heat on Madame Chicken:

A snarl, a bark, a paw and love,
Chicken turn'd on her gnarl'd
Heels and fled for dear life:
What a good laugh
We had of it!

*This is a true story capture in a poem and it played
before our eyes during a funeral ceremony just across the street.
