February Appraisal Poem by Jason Bonhomme

February Appraisal

February Appraisal

Here I sit
An isolated and dislocated man
Stranded in time and space
Finding my place
With a helping hand

I've cut my dead friends
Burnt like fires raging
There will be no amends
Nor prizes for the gauging

Alienated am I
A spectator of phenomena
Observer of the joys on high
Envisioning the Pleroma

Melancholic loner
Catastrophic stoner
She's giving me a boner
Sadness now a goner

I'm touching toxicity
Reached via despondency
Wretched in frequency
Loathsome reflectivity

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This poem was composed at a time when I felt especially low in myself. I was back in the town of my birth visiting my parents for a while and I found it hard to relate to my surroundings having not lived there for many years. I feel this poem captures the frustration and darker emotions I was experiencing.
