Feeding The Soul Poem by Dr. Antony Theodore

Feeding The Soul

I love the descriptive
metaphors Jesus uses
in the Gospels.
Just reading it
creates vivid images
in my mind.

Everyone who
listens to these
words of mine
and acts on them
will be like a wise
man who built
his house on the rock.

I can imagine that
solid structure,
a sturdy fortress
that will not waver.

And everyone
who listens to these
words of mine but
does not act on
them will be like
a fool who built
his house on sand.

Now if we imagine
our souls as that house,
all becomes clear.

What kind of foundation
am I built upon?

We feed our bodies
at least three times
a day but many of
us only feed our souls
once a week.

Our souls are starving for God
