Feeding Time At The Zoo.. Poem by D.A. Woods

Feeding Time At The Zoo..

It's feeding time, up at the zoo,
metaphor an animal, which will you choose?
A lion, an elephant, a duck or a shrew,
each one hungry up here in the zoo.

I'm a monkey here at the zoo,
clowning about which is nothing new,
you laugh at me, I laugh at you,
when it's feeding time here at the zoo.

I wish I was a rhino here at the zoo,
thick skinned and let nothing get through,
big and strong as a mountain too,
but now its feeding time here at the zoo.

I wish I was a heron here in this zoo,
beautiful dull colours of grey and blue,
and take flight for pastures of new,
but its feeding time here at the zoo.

Its feeding time here up at the zoo,
aren't you hungry too?
everythings sweet here on the menu,
when its feeding time here at the zoo.
