Felicity Poem by Rick Gerber Ulysses

Felicity

Felicity

We row boats across oceans and carry our offsprings to new and strange lands
Born of the wisdom and sacrifices of our mothers and fathers and they to born of their mother's and fathers
We are all immigrants because the world is one place and much to vast
We watch the sunrise and set without even a single flaw
We're there no aching of childhood bones we might never grow up
And we caress the hearts of many until
Our own heart is aware
Stark and staunch
Fed on experience
hardship and toil
Errors and regret
Kindness and joy
Innocence and accidents
With a milestone of years behind us we become something more
Ancient as a needle and thread that binds the fabric of the soul
Stitching the rudiments of passion
Of music
Of perspicacity
Pushing the envelope until the stars rename themselves and we become new constellations
And that is where you come in
It is that your eyes let the light in
Your smile is a country side
Your step is a melody
When you sing there isn't any room for error because your words are honest and enticing
You wake up everyday and begin anew
Like an apple feeds a child or the rain calms the thorns of roses long spent
It is that you rage with the utmost energy
Inspiring the underdogs and calming the confused
We're it that you were a fountain that fed wishes and quenched thirst
It would be no different then your bright spirit that replenishes the lot of us
And when the dark comes in
When the door is closed
The windows are painted shut
When the the wind in your sails affords you no velocity
When it seems like your sheets are strangers and your pillows are daunting
Do not despair
For you are an echo
A song of undying divinity that plays steadfast to the beat of your precious heart
And rock steady my darling
Be the breeze of your ocean
The root of your mountain
The vastness of your sky
And when the vail is lifted you will come again and bring with you peace and understanding
Songs from within and songs from without
The coil of your voice giving color sustenance
As if you were the sun painting rainbows
As if you were the brush that joins the canvas and paints a culminating landscape of hope
All trees and waves and flowers and moonrises
And if you are down
If you have done all you can
If you are restless and you feel lost and alone
This is how you brave strength and become a chrysalis
And each and every Avenue of your outstanding and passionate life will never be far enough away to ever truly stunt you
And I who so adores you will always be here
Hanging on your every word
astonished and replenished
Beholden and bound to your felicity
