Fierce And Bold the Siskin Poem by john (called jack) wren

Fierce And Bold the Siskin

A pretentious bird whose looks unfold
To behold a character fierce and bold,
That thrusts its beak into parts unexplored
With the speed and dash of a rapier sword.
In search of many a succulent prize
That succumbs to this bold enterprise
And brings contentment for a while
Until it transfers to another aisle.
Peanuts perhaps would fit the bill
Hung on a nail, left by good will,
One has to be quite an athlete
To hang on these bags by their feet.

Other traffic who patrol the sky
Catch a glimpse as they pass by
But these birds of yellow and green
Book every seat in this canteen.
Never one to hold back from an affray
When their dander's up its anchors away,
The words hot headed come easy to mind
They wont back down on this daily grind.
Of standing their corner when foods about
Like any good fairground roustabout,
Who'll give their all for the breed to thrive
For only the brave in this World survive.

Carduelis spinus.
