Fire Poem by james chaplin

Fire

Fire
A flickering flame dancing in the moonlight
A coal fire burning bright
A gentle breeze
A violent blaze
The flames rise higher
Meaningless screams shouting FIRE
A trapped girl
Flames swirl
Sirens in the distance
Are they for me?
A jet of water
It is too late
My beloved heart is about to brake
A strange man in a uniform
Come to save me
Am I alive?
My hospital bed waits
Will I make it in time?
I’m out of the blaze
I am afraid
My body badly burnt
Strange people come to take me away
The house still burning
I could be in school learning
But I lay here in my hospital bed
My dying words
Why did I start the fire?
