Fired Ash Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Fired Ash

Fired ash

Of nowhere came fire;
-for a while it remained
-then ashes scattered
-near what was half-burned.

The rider speaks of
-bulk of pains; the unseen
-tumours of great memories.

No more she can give horse the sugar
-in cube, with one eye towards her, another
- (the right side,)obscured...

She loved the horse's left
-where she combed the long mane
-and used for climbing the saddle…

Encaged were the horses in the barn
- (like people of Gaza; for long time)
-no way for finding route to escape…
-They lost life when befell in fire!

Nothing left of horses
-except for their ashes…
-similar to ‘Brook', once ‘Sunny'!

Oh, mankind!
Oh, devil!
Abuser of the meek!
And rider on the weak!

Look at wood of the fence
-horse nibbled and dreamt
-of finding some way, out,
-while filling the tummy…

News reads:
"Family neglected the horses,
-buried at Stouffville…"

How long will survive the memories?
