Firework Poem by Casey Jarrell

Firework

What a sad night without you.
In the most hostile empty place,
where is the right distraction?
There's an explosion because there is no light without darkness.

There's something in the air,
there's something in you,
that draws me to you.
Enlighten the heavens
and enlighten me.
Like a great firework that fills my heart,
how long will this darkness last?
It keeps expanding along the border between me and you.

The good and bad within me
makes the whole of my soul.
A magical glow will remain.

There's something in the air,
there's something in you,
that draws me to you.
Enlighten the heavens
and enlighten me.
Like a great firework that fills my heart,
how long will this darkness last?
It keeps expanding along the border between me and you.

There's something in the air,
there's something in you,
that draws me to you.
Light up the night.
Brighten the stars.
Like a great firework that fills my heart,
how long will this darkness last?
Now is the present and my love for you is far away when you're not here.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This is my own version of Fuoco D'artificio from Killary.
I love this song.
It's raw and emotional.
Plus it reminds me of all the times seeing my mom in a happy mood.

Thanks! It took forever to write last night. I was having trouble trying to get my sentences to make scence using both google translate and YouTube to get an idea on what to write.
