First Real Day Of Spring Poem by Richard St. Clair

First Real Day Of Spring

Rating: 5.0

New England spring has been a fleeting thing,
Some days it's warmer, other days it's cold.
Today the sun was shining, bright and bold:
Its coddling warmth has moved my heart to sing.
We have a Robin family in our lilac,
Their nest is right outside our kitchen window:
The parents guard against any threats below,
And in their zeal they're ready to attack!
Life is so impermanent, they say;
But joy in small installments comes about,
More than perhaps my karma has allowed,
Yet joy it was, it made my dour day!
Love like this is in the enchanted air—
It must needs pass, but I don't really care.
