First Real Smile Poem by Hannah Diane Williams

First Real Smile

The darkness had control
Over my life for so long,
Now, the light's beginning to show...
Dawn is coming.

The weight was
On my shoulders
Pushing them down for so long,
It's finally gone.

The tears are finally going away,
A slight shimmer of a real smile,
Showing from my face.

The sun is coming,
I see it.
Relief is coming,
I feel it.
A smile is coming,
I know it.
