Fleeting Thoughts Poem by Edwina Reizer

Fleeting Thoughts

Of all the thoughts I've had today
I cannot find the one
that stayed with me for more than a minute
except for the one about the sun.

Saw it appear from beneath a cloud
and I quickly went outside.
But before I could feel it on my skin
it decided to hide.

Went back inside, picked up my pen
but my thoughts were coming so fast,
Put down the pen, again saw the sun.
But I knew it wouldn't last.

Well why should I complain?
The sun and my thoughts were the same today.
Neither of them stayed around.
They both stayed a minute then went away.
