Flight Of Foolishness Poem by Bryan Taplits

Flight Of Foolishness

Oh me, oh my, time has passed me by
And no longer by zephyr can be carried
For I lost my way-and in my languorous time
I'd become blind-
'Dear one…. I've been tardy-and tarried."
Because I was young and oh so unsatisfied
To other lands I had ferried,
But no longer am I that wayward youth
-no longer near as uncouth-
'I‘ve returned now, my darling.'
'Oh dear....
You're married."
So, only in my dreams now
can I hug you,
My arms
They embrace only memories.
I lunge for my first frantic squeeze-
"Yes! '
That's for you
But the final desperate one,
"Dear heart"
That's for me.
