Flooerin Gean (Flowering Cherry, Scots) Poem by Sheena Blackhall

Flooerin Gean (Flowering Cherry, Scots)

I am the flooerin gean
In the Japanee Gairden o the Duthie Park
I wis plantit here bi Takashi Sawano
Tae be a tree o peace
Tae be a myndin o the atom bombs that drapped
On Hiroshima and Nagasaki at the end of WWII

I'm a Scottish tree,
Trimmed in the Japanee style
Tae be a myndin tae Aiberdeen
O the foonder o the Mitsubishi Corporation,
Thomas Blake Glover hissel.
