Followed By A Furry Feline! Poem by Denis Martindale

Followed By A Furry Feline!

I was walking back from shopping,
In a heatwave, almost dropping,
And saw a liddle puddycat ahead.

Her tail went up, as if with glee,
When suddenly, she first saw me,
And in a flash, next to my side, she sped.

She nuzzled my ankle with a poke,
' Hello, kitty! ' I softly spoke,
The cat meowed on hearing what I said.

' I've got no fish, no milk, no meat!
And no cat food with which to treat! '
She took no notice and nuzzled me instead.

When I walked on, she meowed fast,
As if the poor thing seemed aghast,
No milk, no water, totally alone.

Left there, within a hot heatwave,
Right there, without a friend to save,
To think that I should leave her, on her own.

Although I know I'm almost skint,
And not that guy who's worth a mint,
Great kindness is the thing for which I'm known.

When at first I tried to hold her,
She soon leapt upon my shoulder,
As if I were the Master she would own.

We went on, back home together,
She and I, now friends, furrever!
When she found me, that was my lucky day!

She's playful! She's sublime!
My companion, all the time!
She's precious and purrfect in every way!

Here's a furry-friend cat poem written by the Poemhunter poet Denis Martindale.

The title of the pussy poem is ' Followed By A Furry Feline! '

The UK has recently experienced an overwhelming heatwave. This morning, I was thinking about how the animals were coping. So I wrote this poem to present the case for helping the animals, even if it's just one at a time.

The poet is walking home after he has been out shopping for more Pot Noodles and fizzy drinks, when a local cat sees him coming.

' My hero! ' thinks the cat, hoping to find a new home if she plays it right.

The poet's a soft touch, and yet he's exactly what she's been looking for! Talk about her lucky day!
