Fool On Me - Poem by Amanda Edwards

A fool
That’s what I feel I’ve been
I put my trust in a guy
Thought he was my friend
All in truth
He was no better than a passing bad trend
I thought I no longer possessed that certain quality
That quality that I despise
Naivety
I cannot cry
I find no reason why
I never knew him
Sigh
Fell for another trap
Or perhaps I trap myself
Making things more than they are
More than they should be
Don’t get me wrong
Romantic bliss I did not seek
I wanted a friend
All I got was pretend
