Football Ground Poem by Richard Sockett

Football Ground

Fans waiting and hoping at the gate
Over excited singing as teams await their fate
Our hopes and dreams played out on the pitch
Training and tactics help teams win without a hitch
Bright coloured shirts are worn proudly on fans backs
At halftime there is a massive queue for snacks
Long kicks down field come from the goal keeper
Legs working harder feels like mountains getting steeper

Good luck and fair play says the ref at the start
Reds and blues shake hands so fairness plays a part
Oranges and drinks are had when players take a break
United versus Wednesday our city pride no one can fake
Nothing comes close to the excitement of watching the beautiful game
Does this poem inspire you and make you feel the same?
