For All The Things That We Cannot Speak.... Poem by RIC BASTASA

in the world of rules
we live with restraint
what we say what we
do, we do it with caution
lest the rules be broken
and punishment comes
in, with a whip or the
sword, or the sneer.

and so we learn to
live with what we cannot
do or those that we
cannot speak or even
whisper.

so much had accumulated
in the heart and mind and
they begin to be heavy
with the weight and volume.

to unload we find the
secret place of the heart
and the hidden rooms of
the mind to store them and
then we trigger it with
some other thought so
as to finally forget.
