For As Long As I'Ve Known You Poem by Nick Fay

For As Long As I'Ve Known You

I remember how it started, though i fear we've already reached the end,
All but departed, that'll teach me for pretending we could ever be friends,
Well, every time i've talked to you, i've had to click 'send',
I've never met you, yet you have a strange/berserk effect on me,
Like a virus set to make my brain work defectively and i don’t know why,
Every time i’ve text you, you’ve hesitated to reply,
Often not at all so i text again, put a smiley face, explain i don’t mind,
To tell you the truth, of course i do, to say i don’t is a lie,
Half the time i’m waiting, anticipating with my phone by my side,
Which i hide from you, my only kind of deception,
To still be in your life, i strive for some of your time and affection,
Hence the rhymes i write to try establish and incite a connection,
I want to know you properly, what’s wrong with that?
Someone you can talk to, moan to or just chat,
Tell me how your day’s been, you know i’d like to hear,
Tell me your dreams, i want to help you make them appear,
Tell me your worries, in a hurry i would be the shoulder on which you can shed a tear,
Any qualms or fears, to calm, - i’m here, but i want to be there,
With what i say i’m sincere, i do actually care,
And as a result i am only too aware,
It’s fair to say this acquaintance just doesn’t work,
Or is it just me? If you disagree just say the word
