Loser In Love Poem by Nick Fay

Loser In Love

It may sound sad but i must say,
I like looking at my phone and seeing your name displayed,
I don’t know you in any sort of way yet i’m enticed,
Hollie P, - but it’s me that's paid the price,
Makes me think, opens my mind,
Reminds me of a time that i often revise,
Something a wise man once said to me, offered advice,
“you choose your own fate and destiny, you make your own life”
If that really is the case, why can’t i make you part of mine?
I try to conversate but it’s like i’m half a mile behind,
Like it’s a race, or a mountain i can’t climb,
I wait, usually to no avail,
Except for when you do text, they’re vague- no detail,
I’ve now come to accept that i failed, you have the lead,
And just when i’m contemplating to concede and quit,
My phone vibrates on the tick,
By the tock my hand is derelict from my job,
Click reply type quick/eye-blink, look across,
Hard to think when i’m being watched by my boss,
Why not just tell me to get lost? Yeah you think lads are knobs,
But if you text at night, you might come to know and realize,
I’m not in it just to fill that hole- and that’s no lie,
Not my goal, nothing to hide,
On the whole i want your soul like i’m Jesus Christ,
Divine intervention, i can’t get through to you,
Or alter your perception,
A picture of perfection, the object of my affection,
No errors or flaws, no cause for correction, quintessential,
So who is an exception which for you is enough?
I’m used to rejection, i’m a loser in love
