For As Long As There Are People In The World Poem by Francis Duggan

For As Long As There Are People In The World

When we were young we learned from people older that not everyone to us will be a friend
And for as long as there are people in the World there will be wars with borders to defend
And lessons of the past are only learned by people who are open to insight
Some people with themselves are never at peace so with somebody they will pick a fight,
Some people in themselves are never happy at everything they do compete to win
They think success in life will make them happy since they fail to realize that happiness is born within
And through their lives they want to keep on winning with them it is always much wants much more
I only say here what is common knowledge and what others have said in other ways before
If people in themselves were content and happy towards others aggression they would not show
Sport would be sport and war would lose it's appeal and of the joys of peace many would come to know
When we are not at peace with ourselves we cannot be at peace with others words from a wise one from ages ago
'Tis not easy to love one that you do mistrust and some find pleasure in making a foe,
Whoever first said peace does come from within us was only saying what happens to be true
And if 'tis a troubled Human World we live in we are only receiving the Karma we are due.
