For Kristen Poem by Patrick O'Reilly

Rating: 5.0

In winter's snowy drifts
Under the shawl of twillight
We walked, hand in hand, clasped and cold,

Glistening.
I could not tell the stars in the sky
From your bright eyes.

To kiss your gentle neck
And hold you.

I told you, on the vapour of my breath,
Or would have,
If fear never overtook me
On Restigouche Road.

And even now, I cant find that final
Heart-turning word.
