For Love To Step In Poem by Linda Barnes

For Love To Step In

A heart in quicksand
Suffocated by dark
Wanting to rise
Into the dense light

How can someone
Begin to love again
After such sorrow
Was left in flames

Sparks shoot out
While smoke rises
Drawing attention
For a path to recover

What will it take
To revive this heart
From feeling abandoned,
Insecure, and shamed

My heart beats fast
Revived by the sound
Of footsteps running
To put out the flame

Will my heart
Release this pain
Allowing to be open
For Love To Step In
