For My First Love Poem by Tracy Lynn

For My First Love

Rating: 4.5

So much has happened,
So much time has passed.
Leafs changed with the seasons,
And brought with it, the past.

I see your face and can't help but recall
Good times that we had, bad times and all
Hopelessly lost in your perfect embrace;
I remember our dance in that small, hidden place.

Can you remember, could you forget?
All that we shared? Or do you regret?
We were just kids! Who could have known?
Experiences were meant for those who were grown.

I remember your hurt,
I remember the pain
Though it was not mine to bear;
Your loss was my gain

I still don't remember,
I still don't recall
What the root cause
Was about after all.

In the end it was me,
Wishing you would be
All that I wanted,
All that I need.

And you standing there,
Sad look on your face…
Trying to figure out,
Where was your place?

In the end I hold true,
To the love that I gave
And hope in your heart,
My memory you'll save.
