For My Heart Necklace Poem by Amy Marie

For My Heart Necklace

Oh heart - your translucent ruby depths
Paint your color
Onto my bedspread white
As I give your surface to light.
Your depths are memories -
And the memories -
Hand-wrapped gifts
From Age herself.

About that silky pale green ribbon
Attached to you:
Where does it come from?
From Destiny?
Then you came from Lovesick.
The scratch in you whispers that to me.

I know because
Childhood penciled my name
Next to you.
In wood
In pink passion
