For Now...We Toast Poem by Harlequin Rose

For Now...We Toast

The crest of day
lies just betond the bend
iin the road
overcast in a warm sephia-tone
as softly falling rain
shimmers in the glow
and makes mirrors of the earth
you and I find ourselves
among the shadows on Lover's Lane
watching in slow motion
trying to see through
the layers of your skin
to your sensative heart
almost fatally flawed
Beautiful
Screaming
is this real enough for you?
Two coffees and a morning walk
in the rain
is that enough to break the slience of disillusion
and clear the cold breakfast from the table
that separates us?
After all, it's been so long
since I've made you cry
so long since I told you
If you get lost just stand there
and I will find you
we've always left it
to the will of the toast
Cheers darlin'
here's to the life you saved
here's to the darkness
that all becomes the same
when you turn off the sun
Cheers darlin'
to the essence of time
time always deals in pain
here's to the rain
For, tomorrow
one of us will have to draw the line
but for now...
we toast.
