For One Of His Years He Is Full Of Elan Poem by Francis Duggan

For One Of His Years He Is Full Of Elan

For one of his years he is full of elan
There is lots of life yet in the sprightly old man
With one young enough to be his grand-daughter he walks hand in hand
That money speaks every language is not hard to understand
A beautiful young blond in her early twenties with shoulder length hair
Has fallen in a big way for the ageing millionaire
Or is it for his money that is not for me to say
Though in their relationship that must have some part to play
The local young males of him jealous in the pub him they discuss
How come she is with that old bloke and not one of us
But with her old fellow the good life she does live
A life to her they could not afford to give
'Tis security she needs not a randy young bloke
Who most of the time is financially broke.
