For 'Pennies On The Dollar' Poem by Marcus McKinley

For 'Pennies On The Dollar'

Rating: 5.0

Falling shards of shattered stars
Cutting through fingers, as they grasp
For a shinning moment, to be like you
On a downward spiral from fame you fall

Having lived the dreams, we can't attain
As we try to catch 15 minutes of fame
If for a moment, we could be like you
Just for 15 minutes, we would feel your pain

Under the lights of the paparazzi

Sweet abounding guilt
Buried, fragmented, heartless
Pieces of loves memories
Laid broken
With unconscious sex

Depicted in magazines
With captions presumed
For the 15 minute masses
In bulk we consume
In conscious we vex

Through the intrusive eye of the paparazzi

Is it worth the agony?
To live unfree for all too see
Chronicled in tabloid
You can't avoid
The inqusition of the 15 minute masses
