For Smeags (2005) Poem by Patrick Wescott

For Smeags (2005)

Rating: 5.0

How can no one see you?
Can they not see the man
that stands right before their eyes,
who reaches to help any?

Can they not see a father,
wrapped in his children,
doing all it takes
for no more than their well being?

Can they not see the soldier,
who gave so much,
and has cried from pain,
those who scorn, will never know?

How can they miss the honor,
or look past a genuine heart?
How can they not see
a man I'm proud to call friend?
