Prison (1993) Poem by Patrick Wescott

Prison (1993)

Rating: 3.3

I'm locked in a cell
and the key is around my neck.
For this is a prison
of my own design.

I feel safe behind these bars,
where no one knows my feelings.
But one of my jailers is tempting me,
and a part of me longs to break free.

What was the crime that put me here?
Was I ever truly judged by my peers?
