For Soon, I Shall Marry Nkem Poem by Ekwueme Kelechi

For Soon, I Shall Marry Nkem

Rating: 5.0

Nkem, the precious jewel I own
The beautiful seed sown by nature
What a joy that caresses my soul
At the thought of thee

Nkem, you spell me with thy smile
At the sight of thee
The light that filters my heart
Sail on thy steps for a final fall

I have a question to ask thee my love
Are those two balls nkem?
Oh! How they blink and merry for me
What of those things found below thy nose?

They look like Mallam Musa's kpomo
Are they also nkem?
Ay! They call me forth
Can I chew to know their potency?

Hey! Their potency has stolen my name
I no longer remain the same
Nkem, I now know your might
For my pen has lost its sight

Nkem- Mine
Kpomo- a kind of meat
