For The First Time Poem by Ray Hansell

For The First Time

I hope you see when you look into my eyes
The loneliness in me had died

My days of sadness have been taken away
Ever since you came to stay

I've known many women as I've traveled through life
I was engaged a few times and had a wife

But when I look at you and think of them
I know that I can't remember when

Happiness like this filled my soul
Can we still find love as we grow old?

I think I can answer that and say yes
Many times in the past I've settled for less

Not knowing for sure but thinking I was right
I may have done it for fear of loneliness at night

But with you it's so different this I know
My love for you just continues to grow

What our final outcome will be
Is anyone's guess, so lets just wait and see

But I know one thing is for sure
For the first in love I feel so secure

Beautiful depiction of the mighty spiritual experience that is love ❤ - a voyage of pure bliss, elegantly brought forth from inner recesses of the heart with conviction. An insightful poem well penned in good rhyme scheme. Thanks for sharing Ray.
