For Whom? Poem by Mahathi Mydavolu

For Whom?

When bloom chrysanthemums, yellow and gold,
for whom? ! Not for the buzzing honey bees,
nor for the passers-by to keen behold!
It's just to please their worldly inner leas!

Does waxing Moon care stirring spirits of swains;
and lo, the Sun doesn't dawn to rouse the world.
They gain their joys by playng traits ingrained;
not all they're ears for someone's praise and odes.

I too this Nature's offspring O my Lord.
Can't shun desires and spurn my joy and mirth!
They're me, in me and out like troughs and fjords
of sea filling and creas'ng my mortal girth.

I know I live my way...my prayers have flaws
and love is scant...why not Thee wrench Thy laws!
