Forced Choice Poem by soren Barrett

Forced Choice

I have two parents father and mother, I'll never have another, two countries of birth
Born with no voice as to which parents I had no choice, child of two different parts of earth
Asked which I love and which from me to shove, no child can make that choice
In childhood egence, to both I have allegiance, two tongues that have one voice
Although grown, both I own, though foster parents did carry me away
One of nature's creations a child of two nations, with both I wish to stay
Forced to choose all sides loose, unalienable rights not to be taken away
Countries of amity wed by humanity, are joined in a world family today
