Forever Mortal Poem by Brian Mattern

Forever Mortal

motions

of obedience
suggesting
intent to
die, in all eventuality.

cataclysmic racing
of thoughts meandering,
and the body
lay still. hoping for fresh
air
and mocking dead space,
in that, the fated last
exhale
does leave you, in
gratitude.
