Here's One For The Road (Ode To Ram Dass) Poem by Brian Mattern

Here's One For The Road (Ode To Ram Dass)

Astral experience,
starts with
total ambivalence.

Uncertainty, like history,
it's a rising flood, engulfing me.

This ego of mine surely won't last.
As it struggles for air,
'I' let it drown in the past.

The tide pulls back,
and a wind pulls me in.
The shore I am sure,
is a place to begin.

Naked as light,
a smile is born.
It chases the face,
of a child, to adorn.

Inner peace, in a beautiful world.
Tragedies cease, as flowers unfurl.

So, please drink from the fountain,
you seem parched and uncouth.
But you must go through self-cleansing,
before tasting a taste, of eternal youth.

The immortal stream, is not a phase to achieve.
It's a reminder for us, who forget to believe.
Now the cosmic patterns, fail to leave me in awe,
I think of when God had a clean slate, and began to draw.

So, connected by heaven, we must come to amends.
We must dropp all the wars, and realize that we are all friends.
Don't let any form of society (whether secretive or not)
don't let it continue, to bask in an unashamed & multifaceted perpetual onslaught.

Karma could prove to be problematic,
and all races of children
will be forced to hide in their neighbors attic.
Countless horrors that will go unnoticed,
unless we put down the hatred,
and embrace the peace of the Lotus.

Earthly presence, in a time full of passion,
could be the one cure, if we rise up together,
united and free, in a loud type of fashion.

Compassion is possible, and it's not controversial.
But it must be world wide, must be universal.
We will stand up humbly, and take back our crowns.
We'll provide health-care to all people, as we make our first rounds.

The next chapter isn't written.
This past one seems just about done.
Let us all grab the pen from those demons,
and we'll scribe a truly new world into the coming pages.
Can't you already feel the change that's begun?
